Vehicle diagnostics tests are a form of electronic diagnosis used to assist us in isolating a fault with your car on computer controlled systems.
It is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure much like an X-ray or an MRI scan. The test may be inconclusive and further investigation/testing may be required at additional cost.
We will plug-in using your cars on board diagnostics port (if fitted) & interrogate the vehicles ECU (electronic control unit). Any fault codes will then be printed out with our computer diagnostics tool. It may also be possible on some vehicles using the latest vehicle diagnostics equipment to carry out live data monitoring whilst driving your car.
In particular with Mercedes Benz vehicles we use the latest STAR diagnostics COMPACT XENTRY BD 07 / 2014, AutoLogic is another capable diagnostics tool that we use that gives us rapid access to faults. Code read and up to an hours of diagnostic labour is £60 inc vat, that is a code reading giving us an indication of a direction, or path we should take to fix your vehicle.

Please note: We only charge if we are able to gain access to your vehicles ECU. If we cannot gain access then we will not charge you. Furthermore t is not always possible to diagnose all electrical faults, or problems with your car using the computer diagnostics testing procedures.

Diagnosing computer management faults require the following steps:
Computer Diagnostic Code Read Only:
This service is available for £60 inc vat. For this service we plug-in our diagnostic service computer and down-load the fault codes stored on your cars on-board computer, convert the codes to text and give you the print out.
You can then decide whether to act on this information without us checking further, and instruct us accordingly.
Computer Vehicle Diagnostics:
The computer diagnostics check is £102 inc VAT and includes up to one hour of labour, and all further computer code readings relating to your problem.
Manual Vehicle Diagnostics:
If your vehicles ECU has either no fault codes or none relevant to the emissions failure, further manual diagnostic checking will be required subject to the hourly labour rate.
This further investigation service may require either electrical diagnostic or manual checking of the catalytic converter system.
However unlikely it is that we are unable to access or communicate with your vehicles ECU with one of our many diagnostics computers then you will not be charged for this service.
