In 1996, long-term colleagues Steve Abbs and a partner created MercAid Ltd to provide quality commercial repairs and car servicing to Mercedes vehicles.
Both came from a Mercedes-Benz commercial main dealer background where over many years they built up a wealth of knowledge and experience.
They started with a mobile operation, but soon after it became clear that in order to realise the full potential of their idea it would be wise to set up a small garage so they could build a stronger customer base and offer additional services.
The idea was a success, and in 1999 they had to move into bigger premises, and at the same time took on four more highly skilled technicians with main dealer training, something that has made the business the success that it is today.
In 2004 the new concept of MercAid Cars Ltd was on the horizon. An independent specialist in the servicing and maintenance of Mercedes-Benz cars. As a long-term associate of Steve’s, Simon Croft was brought in as they believed his commitment, dedication and knowledge was the key to making this new venture a success.
Within a very short period of time they had outgrown the premises in Basildon and decided to relocate to larger premises, after starting up a second car garage in Hainault, Essex.
After a name change to MotorAid Ltd which focused on the direction of our business towards German brands and not a one marque specialist, today they have two dedicated car sites specialising in Mercedes-Benz / SMART, BMW / Mini, Audi/VW (Skoda/Seat), Porsche & Bentley.
Our bodyshop repair centre opened January 2015 for both car and commercial vehicles. The Basildon site encompasses a two acre commercial vehicle repair operation specialising in all makes of LCV & HGV vehicles. There is also a stand-alone 4×4 garage, and an MOT centre there too. The main area of coverage is the South / Mid Essex and East London areas.
They have a growing team of 38 handpicked people dedicated to their roles. They are an award-winning garage having picked up “Best in Customer Services” at The Essex Business Awards where focus on customer services still remains fundamental to their business today.
With a loyal customer base of over 14,000 and growing, the continuing success of MotorAid Ltd can be put down to delivering a friendly, reliable service, and offer great value for money.
